Reflecting on a Stellar 2024

As we approach the close of an extraordinary year, we want to take a moment to share and celebrate some of the highlights and collaborations that made 2024 memorable.

Firstly a heartfelt thank you to our patrons, Chair and Board of Directors; donors; funders; arts, cultural, and science partners; participants; and audiences. This collective support enables our arts and cultural organisation to provide public access to innovative regional arts and cultural experiences. Additionally this is made possible by engaging with an exceptional team of creatives who live and work in regional and metropolitan NSW.

2024 HIGHLIGHTS

DGR status secured

We are thrilled to announce that The Corridor Project (TCP) has secured Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status in 2024. This milestone, achieved through the dedication and expertise of our voluntary Board, enables all donations supporting our programs and campaigns to be tax-deductible.

To celebrate this significant achievement, we held our inaugural Donor Launch in November, led by our Patrons and Board. The event featured contributions from Patrons - Andrew Upton and Cate Blanchett, Board members Dylan Gower, Tony Brooks and Phoebe Cowdery, Partner MESSUMS.ORG - Johnny Messum, Artists Sammy Hawker, Peachey & Mosig, and musician Ben Ward, who presented inspiring works developed at TCP to our philanthropic guests. Thanks to our sponsor See Saw Wine and supporter Bell Shakespeare for use of venue.

Introducing TCP’s International Residency Exchange Program

We are thrilled to announce the launch of TCP’s International Residency Exchange Program, in partnership with UK-based MESSUMS.ORG through their MESSUMS CREATIVE social outcome initiative.

The inaugural resident, UK visual artist Tyga Helme, undertook her TCP-AiR residency in early 2024. We will update you on Tyga’s upcoming exhibition, set to open at MESSUMS.ORG in 2025. To learn more about Tyga Helme and her residency experience, go HERE.

We are equally excited to welcome Jelly Green from the UK to Australia in April 2025 as part of this partnered creative exchange.

A vibrant year of residencies, exhibitions and events: 2024 Highlights

This year, TCP hosted over 100 regional and metropolitan artists supported through the TCP Artist-in-Residency (TCP-AiR) Program, exhibitions, workshops and events. Both individuals and groups engaged in ideating, exploring, experimenting, creating, and producing new work for public and commercial exhibitions, including competitions.

Res Artis membership news

TCP Joins the Res Artis Network

We’re excited to share that The Corridor Project (TCP) is now part of the Res Artis network of international residencies! Spread the word to creatives seeking studio space, creative industry networks, regional inspiration, and accommodation set amidst the stunning Australian Bush on Wiradjuri country.

Artists can immerse themselves in a breathtaking landscape featuring striking granite-strewn hills, wild river systems, expansive night skies, and native habitat corridors. The area is teeming with wildlife, including platypus, echidnas, kangaroos, and over 100 bird species—a pristine environment for inspiration and creative development.

Science + Arts Hub Impact in 2024

Thanks to the support of Inspiring Australia NSW (IANSW), 2024 was a standout year for TCP initiative - Orange Cowra Cabonne Science Hub. We delivered a dynamic program of science/arts events, panels, exhibitions, and workshops, engaging over 3000 people delivered in-person and via digital platforms.

Our focus on community and professional skills training was led by science communicators, environmentalists, scientists and artists for community and creative industries seeking cultural and environmental immersion. Key highlights included:

• ERTHWRX24, a multi-day event focused on environmentalism with a program of panels, exhibitions, and performances curated by TCP.

• Lisa Blair Schools day An educational outreach program featuring International Solo Sailor Lisa Blair, who inspired 400 students with her schools-day presentation.

• Public workshop highlights: Architectural Interventions POD, Bivouac, and an Introduction to Chemigrams each exploring science, architecture, design, construction, alternative photography and alchemy.

Symposium & Exhibition highlight's include:

ARTISTS IN CONVERSATION: OFFERING exhibition - Lismore Regional Gallery based on works ideated at TCP-AiR [April]

ERTHWRX24 - Event and exhibition located at TCP and Cowra Micro Gallery involving 2 moderators, 12 panellists and 60+ artists exhibiting new works developed through residency and professional development workshops [August]

Emerging Landscape Painting Today - Symposium curated by Messums.org invited TCP Creative Producer - Phoebe Cowdery as presenting panellist to discuss TCP artist-in-residency program joined by Orange Regional Art Gallery Director Brad Hammond and Johnny Messum [November]

WDA24 - Conference Wildlife Disease Association - Wildlife health through the arts presented at the NGA Gandel Hall and James Fairfax Theatre - The National Gallery of Australia. About Us

The Corridor Project is a not-for-profit arts and cultural organisation located on Wiradjuri country in the Central West of NSW established in 2011. Situated alongside the Galari (Lachlan River), our rural location includes restored shearers quarters and a repurposed historic wool-shed that are the architecture for artists and community to stay and create in the landscape. We offer studio spaces, accommodation and equipment. Our program is inspired by the striking granite strewn hills, river systems, expansive night skies, and habitat corridors of the surrounding landscape.
