About Jelly Green

Jelly Green (b.1992) is a contemporary British-New Zealand painter. Her work is defined by her passion for the natural world. Having spent extended periods immersed in the global web of jungles and rainforests from Brazil to Borneo and Sri Lanka to New Zealand, Green’s large-scale works revel in the magnificent primordial canopies, while unflinchingly bearing witness to the brutal decapitation and destruction of the arboreal world. Her most recent work is focussed on the wildfires that threaten many of the earth's forests: the paintings capturing the savage, elemental forces unleashed at the critical moment when the fire takes hold. Residency testimonial

“I spent three weeks at The Corridor Project and it is undoubtably one of the most extraordinary and unique places I have ever painted. Having the chance to do a residency is always incredibly special, when living and working in a space away from normal life and in a new landscape, gives room for experimenting and play. The studio and living space are set back above the Galari Bila, a stunning and serene spot which in the morning and the evening come alive with sound of the birds; cockatoos, galahs, kookaburras and more. I spent most of my time there painting and drawing along the riverbank, watching the light as it moved over the water and listening to the wind whistling through the casuarina trees. As I worked I was often joined by wallabies and an echnida. A truly truly inspiring place. I am so very grateful to Phoebe and Dylan for the opportunity to come and paint there, I also had my young family with me at the time and they couldn’t have been more warm and welcoming. I am now back in my studio working from the paintings I did during my time at The Corridor Project, experimenting with colours I previously was unfamiliar with, slowly making smaller works bigger, excited about a new body of work”. - Jelly Green 2025
