‘I had an incredible experience at the Corridor Project, my time there allowed me to reconnect with the land I grew up on. The beauty of the light and colours on the hills at various times of the day, along with the bird life and granite tors are continuously bewitching. The old shearing shed is a fantastic large space for artists to set up an open-air studio, my residency focus was on experimenting with a range of photographic alchemy processes combined with natural elements. The Corridor Project team are so welcoming, kind and supportive. I look forward to returning soon!

🐝 WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

In this one day workshop participants learnt the chemigram process and how to make your their own chemigrams. Chemigrams are created by forcing a chemical reaction between photographic paper and photographic chemistry. Resistant household materials (such as wax, Vaseline, nail polish, oil, etc.) are painted, scratched and sprayed onto photographic paper and then submerged into chemical trays to form patterns and marks. This process results in mesmerising artworks that become their own worlds, resembling celestial dark matter. You will be supported by artist Simone Darcy with techniques, tips and tricks gained from her extensive experience in experimental photography and darkroom photography techniques. The group worked collaboratively with other workshop participants learning new skills and methodologies. This workshop was supported by Inspiring Australia NSW year round workshop program.
